I used to blog all the time. Mostly about movies and random stuff. I did it for a few reasons - I felt I could, I enjoyed sharing my opinions, some friends said I should.... but it became a chore. So I stopped all together. I left my thoughts at tweets and status updates and that was that. This year I made a goal to read more. I've been succeeding. I've been getting so enthusiastic about some of the stuff I've been reading, so I decided to start blogging once again, and this time about books. I figure, with books, one day I might like to go back and see what I thought about things I had read at a different time in my life, so even if nobody ever stops by, the posts will still serve a purpose.
With this blog, I plan to write book reviews, thoughts about book-to-movie adaptations, posts about books I cannot wait to be released, and post great deals for books I find online.
I've worked in libraries, in one role or another, since I was 15 (or just about half my life). Currently I work as a Young Adult Librarian and Volunteer Coordinator. I read both released titles and ARCS (advanced readers copies) and decided I should start spreading the word more. The spelling and grammar won't always be perfect. This isn't a job. This is for fun. If you like books, and want to chime in or even post a review of a title, comment by all means.
As a reader, my favorite genres are horror, thriller, action, and yes, I'm totally on the dystopian band-wagon!! My favorite book of all time is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. My favorite recently read book is Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain. My favorite teen book is probably Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins or Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, both for entirely different reasons. My biggest pet-peeve when reading a book is when there is too much detail - I need a fast page-turner, and that distinction is not just limited to action/adventure novels. I also need good characters and an interesting plot. Great command of the English language means nothing to me if I'm not engaged!
I love GoodReads, and thought about just sticking to that, but I like the flexibility a blog offers. So that being said, off to start posting!!
(Image below is of a book group I led - we were discussing the book Divergent by Veronica Roth).
