About Me
I'm Dan Barbour, and I'm 29. I live in Massachusetts, about 45 minutes outside of Boston, my favorite city in the world.
I've worked in libraries, in one role or another, since I was 15 (or just about half my life). Currently I work as a Young Adult Librarian and Volunteer Coordinator.
What's makes my opinion worthy of a blog? In my professional role, I am consistently asked for good book suggestions, and not just for teens. This will help me keep track of what I've read and be able to offer suggestions (or warnings!) whenever needed! I want your opinions too though! Chime in, comments enabled (but spam will be promptly deleted.)
As a reader, my favorite genres are horror, thriller, action, and yes, I'm totally on the dystopian band-wagon!! My favorite book of all time is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. My favorite recently read book is Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain. My favorite teen book is probably Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins or Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, both for entirely different reasons. My biggest pet-peeve when reading a book is when there is too much detail - I need a fast page-turner, and that distinction is not just limited to action/adventure novels. I also need good characters and an interesting plot. Great command of the English language means nothing to me if I'm not engaged!
